The CMLS (Council of Multiple Listing Services) 2007 meetings were held last week in Seattle with Ann Bailey as moderator. Approximately 300 MLS executives, directors, and vendors attend this annual gathering. "Principles of Change" was the recurring theme and the meeting wrap up outlined what MLSs around the country can do now to support brokers:
1) Create one IDX Feed
2) Work toward data standarization
3) Agree on common rules
4) Allow one MLS fee per broker
5) Expand our information base and connectivity
All of these issues are being addressed locally. IRES is committed to pursuing these national trends to support and serve Colorado brokers.

That looks like a great list!
In particular, I think item #1, the IDX feed, is critical.
Despite all the "hooplah" I hear almost daily about new websites where listings can be posted, it seems to me that the most powerful vehicle for maximizing online exposure is IDX, and the hundreds of agent and broker websites that participate in IDX.
It is my understanding that a RETS-based IDX feed will make IDX data much more reliable and timely, thereby making all of our agent and brokerage websites even better.
I have heard that IRES is working on a RETS solution. Any info on when the RETS feed will be up and running? Thanks!

If you and your web developer are interested in using RETS IDX, give us a call and we'll get you on the list. The server is ready but we are still in the beginning stages of transfering IDX users over to it. At this point, we are most interested in working with programmers who are familiar with RETS, so that may affect who we work with first. So, let us know!
